eSense research and development group was first formed in 2012 at Shahid Beheshti University- School of ECE under Dr. Ghassemian supervision. The scope of the e-Sense projects are around the smart sensing systems and applications. While a variety of applications are being investigated in the group, the target application is selected to be healthcare and wellbeing systems.
Smart health and wellbeing systems, the ICT, wireless sensory devices are the main drivers of the projects undertaken by this group which aim not only at moving the point of care closer to the patient, but the patient can now assume a more active role in his or her own care. These technologies, coupled with (1) the migration of the health care industry to electronic patient records and (2) the emergence of a growing number of enabling healthcare technologies (e.g., novel biosensors, wearable devices, implant sensors and intelligent software agents), demonstrate unprecedented potential for delivering highly automated, intelligent healthcare in the home.
This group also has a partnership with the University of Greenwich, King’s College London and Smart Health lab-UCLA, from its setup time.
eSense research group put three main issues on the agenda and in eSense Research Lab students work in three main subgroups:
