Educational Background

Mona Ghassemian is a faculty member of School of Computer Science and Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University since September 2012. She obtained her Dipl. Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the Ferdowsi University of Mashad in 1997. In 2001 she received the M.Sc. by Research degree in Mobile and personal communication systems from King’s College London – University of London by distinction. From 2001-2004 she worked as a PhD student for a funded project by NTT-DoCoMo with collaboration of DoCoMo-euro labs in Munich. After finishing her PhD she was employed by King’s College as a Research assistant in e-Sense European 6th frame project, where she was coordinator and acting as an editor for the Work Package related to cross-layer optimisation for wireless sensor networks. In 2007 she joined the academic staff in School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Greenwich.

She visited a number of universities; namely UoT, TU, and SUT and collaborated with their research groups. She has held an honorary visiting research associate position with King’s College London since she has left for University of Greenwich.

She has founded an award winning IEEE student branch at University of Greenwich (ieeeGreen.org) in 2010 and currently serves as the secretary for the IEEE UK&RI section since Jan 2012. She is elected for the role of IEEE R8 SAC to work from Jan 2015.
