Work Activities (before November 1997)

1996: January 15 to June 7 (6 months). Research Officer at the Department of Agriculture (Elizabeth Macarthur Agriculture Institute, EMAI, Virology Section). Sydney, Australia.

Duties: Sheep Bluetongue virus detection and amplification

Animal Viral Vaccine Evaluation

1990-92: As a veterinary manager in poultry farm (150,000 broiler chickens) for 14 months           and 18,000 sheep (nomadic conditions) for 3 months in ETKA Organization,   within a compulsory Military Service.

Virus and Host Relationships

2003 – 2016: Microbiology consulting for “Veterinary Vaccines Registration Department” at the Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO).

Duties:

1) Advise the Government for national animal / poultry disease prevention and control using vaccines

2) Proposing the ways in which vaccines can be used to improve and enhance animal products that impact on quality of life, such as food.

3) A critical review of vaccine registration dossiers for issuing importation permission and of local producers.

Working Hours: 4 hours per week

2001 – 2016: Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), ISO-17025 and Biosafety Regulations consulting for designation and construction of the Veterinary Laboratories in Iran Veterinary Organization (IVO)-state offices as follow;

Level-2 (BSL-2) Lab located at Ghaem-Shahr city (North of Iran) This laboratory is completed in 2008 and became a twin laboratory of the World Reference Laboratory for Newcastle & Avian Influenza Virus, Padova, Italy

Level-2 (BSL-2) Lab located at Tabriz city (North West of Iran) for veterinary Diagnostic and Food Microbiology tests for export live animals and animal by-products purposes (will be completed in December 2011)

Level-2 (BSL-2) clinical centre and Lab located at Gorgan city (North of Iran) as a Horse Clinical and Diagnostic Centre (Design stage)    

Duties:

1) Microbiology / Biology-biosafety assessment of the Laboratory Design and preparation of Microbiology Procedures for doing related tests

2) Prevent and control the spread of harmful microbes from the Diagnostic Laboratory

3) Preparing safe and standard work environment for the laboratory to be part of the “International Cattle Foot-and-Mouth Disease and Avian Influenza Laboratories Network” supervising by Animal World Health Organization (OIE)

4) Prevent the potential of microbes to damage human and animal health through laboratory malfunction

Working Hours: 2-3 days a month (Note: weekends in the capital city – Tehran, are 2 days while in other cities are only 1 day).

August 2009 – 2017: British Standard Institute (BSI) approved “Auditor” and “Technical Expert” for issuing ISO 9001 for Pharmaceuticals, Animal Breeding (Meat), and Veterinary Practice firms and also issuing ISO 13485 and CE mark for Medical Devices companies, at international level.

April – October 2011: Consultant to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) project. Project No: B01N126.

Project Title: Capacities of the SNO (Middle East and North Africa) countries to manage and plan the traditional small scale dairy sector in support of food security and poverty alleviation enhanced.

Duties:

  • Collect literature information from secondary sources and write a synthesis of what is known about the traditional small scale dairy sector in Iran;
  • Undertake a rapid appraisal to have first hand information on the status of small scale dairy sector through formal and informal questionnaire survey;
  • Undertake an assessment of past and current policies in support of livestock sector particularly small scale dairy sector and producer associations in the country;
  • Analyze the changing demands of dairy products with particular emphasis on traditional small scale sources and implications for national policies, strategies and programs;
  • Prepare a detailed report analyzing secondary and primary information collected during the consultancy period;
  • Prepare recommendations and outline a possible dairy project(s);

February – July 2009: “World Bank” Technical Expert to “Iran Ministry of Health & Medical Education” for evaluating “Iran National Influenza Laboratory (NIH)” to work on human influenza viruses

Duties:

1) Advise the Iranian government on public health policies in regards to viral disease diagnostics using appropriate work environment

2) Giving road-map and budget estimation for Iran NIH future work to manage enormous samples coming to the laboratory for testing against Swine and Avian virulent strains of Influenza viruses

3) Preparing safe and standard work environment for the laboratory to be part of the “International Influenza Laboratory Network” supervising by World Health Organization (WHO)

2001-2002 & 2007-2008: Microbiology consulting for “Animal & Avian Virology” and “Quality Control of Viral Vaccines” Departments at the “Central Veterinary Laboratory and Quality Control of Pharmaceuticals” of Iran Veterinary Organisation, Tehran

2007: Consultant to the “Food Hygiene Investigation Department” at “Iran Veterinary Organization – IVO” to propose drafts for inspection of “Feed & Food Processing Plants”.

2004: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) consulting for the designation of Mycoplasma and aerobic and non-aerobic Bacterial vaccines plants (total: 7 vaccines), based on WHO-FAO requests, for “Razi Serum and Vaccine Research Institute”, Karaj, IRAN

2004-2005: Member of the committee at “Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran” (ISIRI) to prepare the national standard for “Non-reusable containers for the collection of sharp medical items used in health care facilities and its destruction routes” (2004-2005)

1999-2004: Microbiology and Bio-compatibility management and also Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) / ISO-13485 consultant for the largest Medical Device company (SUPA), in the Middle East and in Iran to obtain CE mark from the British Standard Institute (BSI) in September 2001

2001-2002: Invited lecturer to the “Tarbiat Modarres”, “Khatam Universities” (specialized only in post-graduate study), “Razi Serum & Vaccine Research Institute” and “Iran Medical University” for “Viral Vaccines”, “Advanced Virology” and “Genetic of Viruses” courses (2001-2002).
