Project Description
I’m currently working on a novel method for inferring evolutionary history (phylogenetic tree) of closley related species (especially bacterial strains) using shared synteny (maximal common neighboring genes). This study at the very first step deals with the fundamental problem of identifying orthologous genes within strains. In the next step, shared synteny is detected using the longest common substring (LCS) algorithms. Finally, this synteny is employed to assess the phylogenetic tree of given strains.
