Diplomacy is the main infrastructure science of all areas of diplomacy
In this meeting, Dr. Jamileh Alamolhoda, dean of Shahid Beheshti University’s Institute for Science and Technology Studies, pointed out the missions of this research institute and said: “In the Institute for Science and Technology Studies, theoretical studies are connected to policy making. In recent years, this research institute has worked on the position of science diplomacy. The position of the new government was used so that we could achieve new structures with the support of the ministers.
Developed countries, especially Europe and America, sanctioned twice; the first time they deprived themselves of the huge scientific and cultural treasure that exists in countries like Iran, and the second time they sanctioned us. Our sanction is more related to science. On the other hand, we do not have the necessary infrastructure for serious communication with the world, while we have developed capacities in this field in the last forty years.
The growth and development of various disciplines, especially in the comprehensive universities of the country, allows us to play a role in various activity areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If every ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, before leaving for his mission locale, gets to know more about the country’s scientific capacities and capabilities during a meeting with the presidents of top universities, we will undoubtedly be more successful in introducing scientific capabilities and interaction.”
