Let’s recognize the traditional, modern and Islamic triad / Corona’s educational challenge
Scientific meeting on the opportunities and challenges of the educational system in view of national and international experiences
Referring to different narratives that exist in relation to suffering, the dean of the Institute for Science and Technology Studies explained: “A common practice among authors, speakers, and researchers is that they divide all approaches, perspectives, and methods into two eras or periods of traditional and modern, but there is really a triad and Islam should not be reduced to a traditional matter, because it appears differently compared with all traditional and modern views and methods, and even traditional and modern formulations of Islam can be criticized from the perspective of Islam. This is why Imam Khomeini refers to a pure Muhammadan Islam, which is put against different traditional and modern narratives of Islam. So, we actually have to recognize the traditional, modern and Islamic triads in different fields.” She considered “religious worldview”, “philosophical worldview” and “scientific worldview” to be the result of three types of explanation about the pervasive evil and said: “Along with the spread of Corona, we are facing the activation of three approaches in explaining Corona, which has led to an active competition globally and in Iran among three types of worldview; religious, philosophical and scientific.”
In explaining these three types of worldview, she explained: “In scientific worldview, theoretical concepts and models are emphasized, which are influenced by science indirectly and even non-scientifically, but pseudo-scientific generalizations that imply macro-philosophical results are based on scientific persuasion methods like data and mathematical models. Frequent and extensive presentation of numbers and figures of patients and the deceased using mathematical and statistical models, etc., not only helps to convince people to accept social laws and perform health behaviors, but more importantly, forms their beliefs about the nature of the world, man and nature, and the relationships of such facts with each other, especially the concept of God, etc. In the philosophical worldview, more emphasis is placed on the subject of good and evil, its factors and consequences in the form of arguments, logical models and philosophical propositions to explain the nature of the corona virus. But in the religious worldview, the focus is more on narratives that explain the natural, human and superhuman factors of the good and evil in aesthetic forms.
In the traditional and modern formulations of the evil, we can observe a mixture of humanism and naturalism that deal with the difference between these two formulations of man and nature and the relationship between man and nature.”
