Islam is not against women and their rights in any area
Dr. Jamileh Sadat Alamolhoda, associate professor of Shahid Beheshti University, said: “Islam is not against women and their rights in any area, and the Holy Qur’an has a marital perspective instead of having a gender perspective on men and women.”
She added: “God created men and women with a gender and marital perspective, but this does not mean that, like in the West, we summarize all gender needs in sexual needs.”
The associate professor of Shahid Beheshti University went on to clarify: “Unfortunately, many people interpret the word ‘Walayah’ to mean the exercise of power for the benefit of a person, while the main interpretation of Walayah is taking responsibility and exercising power for the benefit of religion and its realization.”
Alamolhoda stated: “According to the verses of the Holy Qur’an, Walayah means accepting the responsibility of guiding others and fulfilling the religion. Also, Walayah is two-way and it is true for the believers either men or women.” She added: “Walaei relations change according to environmental conditions and personal coordinates. The Walaei system is based on complementarity and elimination of individual gaps, therefore it has a complementary effect in the family, the Walaei relationship of wives and husbands towards each other and the Walaei relationship of parents towards their children.”
The associate professor of Shahid Beheshti University said: “Unfortunately, currently the concept of Walayah has been misinterpreted and this lofty concept, which is proposed against the system of lords and serfs based on the teachings of Islam, has been changed. Today capitalists are the main masters of the world, and rich countries are the masters of poorer countries, and in most societies, the rich and powerful exploit people, so that the system of lords and serfs covers the whole world.”
